Right now, across the entire state of Minnesota, people are struggling with food insecurity. That’s why our team at The Food Group — a nonprofit that envisions a more just and equitable food system — is inviting you to help raise awareness by taking the 2024 SNAP Challenge.

Starting on November 25, just before the holidays, we’re asking you to live on a SNAP budget for three days in an effort to highlight the difficulty that our community faces every day.

SNAP Challenge Participation Guidelines:
We’re asking Challenge participants to abide by the following rules for three days, November 25 - 27th, during the SNAP Challenge.

• Plan to spend the average SNAP benefit of $5.16 per individual each day as your budget for three (3) days.
• All food purchased and eaten during the Challenge must be included in the total spending.
• During the Challenge, only eat food that you purchase for the project (this does not include spices and condiments).
• Avoid accepting free food from friends, family, or at work, including at receptions, briefings, or other events where food is served (with the exception of food eaten at public places where anyone could eat (e.g. free community meals).
• Share your experience on social media or other outlets you choose, to help spread awareness and use your voice for change! #StepUpForSNAP
